**BRUNCH TIME SPECIAL**
This has been an exciting weekend for a certain Englishman, Chinese man, and Indian! We've had plenty of good dining experiences, and, thanks to an enthusiastic collection of followers, we've reached over 100 likes on our Facebook page. That's 100 in only three days! Thank you so much!
The Farmer's Table Cafe was the first restaurant to show us support, VIA our Instagram account. Therefore, we felt obliged to return the favor--the perfect bartering transaction! Especially since the end product was a meaty, local breakfast on a shaded front porch. Let's not dilly-dally!
Our rating system is structured within four primary categories: Atmosphere, Food, Lunch Bargain, and Service. And we base our scores out of a possible ten points per category--typical stuff, we know. But this is where our ratings diverge! Sure, we count up the numbers, but they don't have so much to do with the restaurant's overall score. That, friends, is our pride and joy: a celebrity tribute, where we define a restaurant's personality with a famous person's name. Cool, huh? Ya, we know.

ATMOSPHERE
Brunch is a tricky time of day, part breakfast/part lunch/part unapologetic time to imbibe mimosas before noon. For a restaurant boasting local, organic eatery, in a community of homegrown-minded people, brunch is "crunch" time. We arrived at about ten after 9 a.m., finding a hungry crowd on the restaurant's front steps. Thanks to Qi's otherworldly punctuality, we reserved a nice table along the deck, under cover from the rising sun. For those still awaiting a table, we were surprised to see a welcoming front yard, with intact cornhole game set. Build an appetite through gaming!
The front porch was shaded due to some well-placed overhangs, and enveloped by flowers, herbs, and other plants that might be used directly in the dishes. There was plenty of seating outside, a pleasant surprise, and many of the seats were filled with patrons young and old, dressed in their church clothes or layabout ware—just like us! Lastly, we noticed a sizable wheelchair ramp on the building's south side, conveniently connected to the looping parking lot. Take note of that accessibility, other restaurants! SCORE 8/10

Bathroom
We believe bathrooms are crucial enough to be a subcategory of Atmosphere, deserving of its own score. Though busy, there was plenty of space to maneuver towards the two bathrooms here, located beyond the kitchens. Both bathrooms are unisex, spacious for a party of one, uncluttered, and cute in their farmhouse green paint. The Farmer's Table is a restaurant within an old house, but the bathrooms make it feel like home. Except cleaner. SCORE 9/10

The mimosas were refreshing, served in mason jars, which, for the unpracticed, can mean a few dribbles down your chin and onto your clothes. Drink fast and get refills! As for food, you can expect a good portion, doused with gravy and chunks of sausage. Sorry, we didn't go vegetarian today, but next time! Harvey opted for the Arkansawyer with ham (we're proud of him), Qi added some protein with his Southtown Omelet (extra sausage filling) and a bowl of cheese grits, while Mike went traditional with Biscuits and Gravy, a sure-fire test of quality, FOOD They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, an excuse to fatten ourselves up only to burn it off later. Where does brunch fall into that? Essentially, it's breakfast with better drinks. We threw our individual ethnicities to the wayside this morning, in favor of an American Sunday staple: mimosas and eating big! |
Just take a look at the pictures! We ate until a nap called our names. The gravy was thick and filling. The meat was greasy, but not too greasy, just what one needs to break-a-fast. And when the biscuits coated the back of our mouths, we took a swig of sweet mimosa! SCORE 7.5/10 LUNCH BARGAIN The cost of our food was in the range of $7-$11, with the more expensive plates having more options of meat or veggies. Though we didn't order it, the Hash Skillet looks like a great deal with lots of fixings. With the addition of $3.50 mimosas, and some coffee, that put our meals right around $15-$20. Not bad for a Sunday morning! SCORE 7/10 |
SERVICE
Did we mention that this place gets busy on Sunday mornings?? Well, it does; families, couples, students recovering from their all-nighters, people come to eat! The crowd can be disheartening, we know, but trust us...it's worth the wait. To be honest, it wasn't much of a wait at all. After only 5 minutes, our server had our chilled mimosas out, coffee steaming, and we felt snug in his efficient embrace. The wait for food was about 30 minutes, which, considering the comings and goings of the crowd, was phenomenal! Besides, by that time we were enjoying our drinks, the morning breeze, and the almighty power of caffeine. SCORE 8/10

OVERALL SCORE
An Englishman, A Chinese Man, and an Indian submerged themselves in local food this morning, as only Fayetteville can bring. The best part of the meal was the feeling that we were supporting our local farmers, produce, and livestock. And that feeling never gets you too full! Heard of Farm Aid? (No? Click here) Willie has been an outspoken defender of many things, but one of the largest feathers in his cap is his support of local farmers and the people they serve. He's a living legend, has the coolest hair on the planet, and can serenade you to sleep better than any mimosa can. And like him, our brunch at The Farmer's Table had us singing "You Were Always On My Mind."
